Susan Creighton

Associate Archivist

After a long career in both mathematics classroom teaching and in teacher education, Susan Creighton returned to school to complete a Masters in Library Science degree in Archives Management at Simmons University. Prior to joining the Vermont Folklife Center, she worked for several years in the University of Massachusetts (Amherst) Special Collection and Archives department, as well as completing internships at Old Sturbridge Village, the New England Historic Genealogical Society and the Handel & Haydn Society in Boston. She has a particular interest in making archival material accessible to the public, and looks for opportunities to tell people about the many amazing collections in VFC's care.

When not engaged in archival work, Susan enjoys playing piano in various groups for traditional New England contradancing as well as English country dancing (think Jane Austen movies). As well as being a sci-fi fan, she's a devoted lover of children's picture books, and loves to read aloud books of all sorts to anyone who will listen. She currently lives with her husband Doug and dog Molly in Greenfield, Massachusetts and makes regular commutes to Middlebury to join her colleagues in person.
