It's Halloween! It's Halloween!

It’s Halloween! It’s Halloween!

Any excuse for a scary story is a good excuse—whether it’s highlighting the English tradition of ghost stories at Christmas, our annual VT Untapped™ Spooky Halloween Special, the Vermont Folk Horror Roadshow, the Legends and Lore program or, frankly, pretty much any reason whatsoever to get thinking about the supernatural - we are on it.

But as far as we’re concerned, Halloween is the best reason of all.

This Halloween is turning out to be a bit tame by our past standards. The return of the Vermont Folk Horror Roadshow is still stymied by COVID-19, and it’ll be a few months before the Legends and Lore marker for the Manchester Historical Society that commemorates the story of the Manchester Vampire can be installed, so the main magic we have to mark the season this year is our annual VT Untapped™ Spooky Halloween Special.

This time around we decided to do something a bit different for our annual fear fest: with the help of our friends at Vermont Public Radio, and in particular folks at The Frequency podcast, we decided to crowdsource creepy stories rather than mine the archive.

Boy did we get some good stuff!

This week The Frequency will be presenting one scary story a day as a part of the podcast—so be sure to give them a listen! As for us, we’ll be featuring a whole bunch of them on VT Untapped™.

Halloween on vt untapped

We’ve started our own Halloween tradition on the VFC podcast, VT Untapped™, with our annual Spooky Halloween Special episode!

Be sure to check out our earlier episodes below and stay tuned for the 2021 Special, which will be released this Friday.

As for the title of the post, it’s taken from one of Andy’s all time favorite Halloween songs—”It’s Halloween” by Freemont, NH trio, the Shaggs. Give it a listen!
