Bob Hooker

Administrative & Development Associate

Bob came to the Vermont Folklife Center in 2006 following a 30-year career at IBM in Essex Junction, VT. Starting as an Administrative Assistant within his first few months he became fascinated with, and at times frustrated with, the donor database. He is now the database go-to person on staff (still simultaneously fascinated and frustrated). He also manages the Folklife Center gift shop, greets visitors, acts as docent for the exhibit gallery, and is the voice that greets those who call the Center.

Bob was born and raised in Vermont, can boast that his children are 9th generation Vermonters, and will soon welcome in the 10th generation. He also loves to cook, and to feed people. In addition he is an artist creating abstract three-dimensional objects of paper, wood, metal, plastic, and thread, and has exhibited in numerous galleries across the State. Bob lives with his husband in the Hooker family homestead in Pittsford, VT, which holds the memories of 5 generations, so far.
