John Henry Downs

Downs, John Henry, Representative of St. Johnsbury, Republican, was born in Arlington, Mass. On November 12, 1919. Occupation: lawyer. He was educated in Arlington, Longmeadow and Winchester, Mass. Elementary schools; Winchester High School, 1937; Yale College, A.B., 1941; and Harvard Law School; L.L.B., 1947. He is married and has two sons and two daughters. Member of Caledonia County, Vermont and American Bar Associations; Kiwanis; Masons; Elks; American Legion; Chamber of Commerce; Republican town and county committees. He has been Town Grand Juror, States Attorney from 1951-55 and village trustee for St. Johnsbury/ He was in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1944 with the rank of Corporal. He was a member of the House of 1961.
